The away team of Steve O'Brien, Alan Potts, Andrew Higgins & Steve Riches struggled to get to grips with the Larsen green throughout the evening. However the match was neck and neck until the thirteenth end when Larsen scored 6. Hainault failed to come back from that disastrous end and eventually lost 15 - 22.Â
On Wednesday 10 June evening under dark threatening skies two Hainault teams played Connaught in the Clarke White league competition.
The away team Tony Seago, Steve O’Brien, Andrew Higgins & Steve Riches started off well and were 5 -1 up by the third end however this early promise was shattered by Connaught’s strong response. Connaught won the next seven ends scoring a succession of one and twos. Hainault were often in winning positions after twelve woods had been played with two or three woods closest to the jack but their skip played some magnificent shots to claim the ends. Thunder heralded heavy rain and play was held up for 15 minutes until the match could resume on a very soggy green. It wasn’t until end 11 that Hainault managed a point to re-claim the mat but Connaught dashed Hainault’s hopes of a come back by winning the next seven ends and running out eventual winners 24 – 6.
The home team of Alan Potts, John Knubley, Dave Ward & Alan Bayliss played Connaught in less than favourable rainy conditions. The early ends were fairly even and the lead swung back and forth until the ninth end when Connaught began to move ahead and held the mat for the next four ends. Hainault rallied in the thirteenth end scoring 2 points however after this Connaught regained the mat and the home team ended up suffering a narrow defeat losing 14 – 10.
This was a home and away match. The home team Lawrence Kaizer, Andrew Higgins & Steve O’Brien lost 14 - 9.75.Â
The away team of Alan Bayliss, Alan Potts, Dave Ward & Colin Green had a disaster. They lost 27 - 5 as Hainault just couldn't cope with Griffin's size 4 and 5 woods hitting out everything Hainault put into contention.
