Our two teams played St. Chad's on a blistering hot Monday afternoon with temperatures peaking at 30 degrees Celsius, equivalent to 86 degrees in old money (Fahrenheit). This away match produced mixed results. Alan Bayliss, Laurence Kaizer & Michael Lee had a convincing win and led throughout their match ending with the score 21 - 7.
Dave Ward, Colin Horsnell & Ray Noah started well and were leading 8 - 4 by the ninth end, however St Chad's came storming back in the tenth end scoring 6 shots. Hainault couldn't come back from this set back and St Chad's continued to build on their lead running out eventual winners 27 - 11.
Two Hainault teams played Seven Kings in glorious sunshine on Tuesday afternoon. On rink 3 Colin Horsnell, Ash Sen & Laurene Kaizer had a fairly even encounter up until the eleventh end with the score tied 10 - 10. Hainault edged ahead by one point in the twelth end but the thirteenth end saw the home team take a decisive lead scoring 5 points. Hainault maintained their lead running out eventual winners 18 - 13.
On rink 4 Steve O'Brien, Alan Potts & Steve Riches started off well and built a 10 point lead by the eighth end. Each of the Hainault players chipped in with some good shots that kept Seven Kings at bay. Hainault maintained the advantage, building further on their lead, keeping the mat for most of the remaining ends to claim a resounding victory 26 - 5.
Two Hainault teams played Clementswood at home on Friday. On rink 3 Tony Seago, Andrew Higgins & Steve Riches played a hard fought close match. Clementswood were leading up to the twelth end, but in the thirteenth end Hainault equalised making the score 9 - 9. Clementswood then re-took the lead and were leading by two points going in to the fifteenth end. Hainault came back fighting and won the final four ends to gain a 15 - 11 victory.
On rink 4 Steve O'Brien, Dave Ward & Colin Horsnell had an equally close hard fought match. Clementswood got off to a flying start and were 8 - 0 up by the fourth end. Hainault put up a spirited fight back over the next fourteen ends but it was not enough to stop Clementswood eventually winning the match 17 - 15.
We played Barley on Wednesday afternoon in glorious sunshine with the temperature more reasonable than the last few days of heatwave. Team 1 on Rink 3 - Alan Bayliss, Laurence Kaizer & Steve O'Brien comfortably won their match 20 - 12 but Team 2 on Rink 2 - Tony Seago, Andy Higgins & Steve Riches lost in a closely fought match 13 -17 . The aggregate score was Hainault 33, Barley 29.
Both teams won this home match against Clementswood. Team 1 Tony Seago, Alan Potts & Michael Lee won 21 -16 while Team 2 Steve O'Brien, Andrew Higgins & Colin Horsnell had an overwhelming 32 - 9 victory.
Both Hainault teams were victorious against St Chad's, Team 1 Steve O'Brien, Laurence Kaizer & John King ran out winners in a high scoring match 26 - 20. Team 2 - Alan Potts, Andrew Higgins & Colin Horsnell also won in a tightly fought match 16 - 9
